Osun Holds Local Government Election in January Baring all circumstances, local government elections will be conducted in Osun state latest by next January under the present administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola. Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kolapo Alimi made the disclosure in his office in Osogbo. Calls for elected representatives of the people at the various local governments in the state have been on for about seven years. But the yearning have been hampered with litigations by the opposition parties coupled with paucity of funds on the part of the state government to prosecute the election. Now the coast is clear after the judgement of the Supreme court on the matter. This time, the election will be unique in that, it gives the state the chance to testrun parliamentary system of government at the grassroots level owing the perceived inherent benefits.
